As social housing providers, many of our customers are vulnerable with support needs, and housing professionals need the skills and behaviours to be able to respond appropriately. But in a fast-paced environment, with often stretched resources, staff can sometimes face the blurred line of where their remit should start and end.

In this interactive online session, we will explore individual challenges with maintaining professional boundaries. We will also consider how the often blurred line, can vary from one person to the next and from one role to the next.

Please note: The content of this course is predominantly England based; however, if you require Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish or Irish content, we may be able to accommodate this. When booking your place, please let us know in the learning needs box on your booking, and we'll be in touch to discuss.

What will I learn?

From this training, you'll learn:

  • Explore boundary theory and how to apply this to your job role
  • Understand why having boundaries makes everybody safe
  • Explore and define the limits of your role and know the importance of having a clear remit
  • Why not having clear professional boundaries can lead to complaints, performance and accountability issues
  • Understand banter in the workplace and how this can impact on professional boundaries
  • How to assist colleagues who experience challenges in maintaining boundaries and how to create feedback mechanisms
  • How to tactfully, but assertively, communicate boundaries and professional remit with customers.

Who should attend?

This course is for frontline housing professionals working for housing associations, housing cooperatives, charities and other organisations.

Benefits of attending

This course is particularly beneficial for frontline housing professionals working with tenants and service users, particularly those who are vulnerable.

Meet your trainer

Carrie Kus has 20 years’ experience in the housing sector and is a seasoned trainer and public speaker. She began her housing career as a case worker for Shelter whilst at the same time building her own property portfolio.

She then progressed to owning her own letting agency alongside a successful training and consultancy company.

She held a board position as non-executive director for the Residential Landlords Association for five years. This gives her the insight of working for, and on behalf of, both tenants and landlords throughout her career which brings interesting stories and anecdotes to her training from both sides of the fence.
