The Housing Academy is the training provider for the Chartered Institute of Housing, offering continuous professional learning for organisations and individuals within the housing sector.

Michael Guest

Michael is a very well established chartered housing professional with a range of expertise, including housing management.

His housing experience includes operational and strategic roles, consultancy and training. He receives consistently positive feedback for his training, described as relaxed and conversational yet highly professional.

His qualifications include the professional qualification in housing and a masters degree with distinction in housing studies.

Eileen McCallum

Eileen started working in housing in 1979 and has wide experience both at the grassroots level and as a manager.

She has worked as a trainer and has over 35 years in developing and delivering training throughout the UK.

She has worked with all levels of staff, co-operatives, tenants and committee members on topics ranging from highly technical repairs issues to personal development and communication skills.

She is appreciated for her lively, engaging and highly participative style.

Helen Muir

Helen specialises in leasehold and service charge management and has been working in this field for twenty-eight years.

She held senior roles for two large housing groups before becoming an independent consultant and trainer, specialising in service charge and leasehold management, service charges and affordable home ownership.

Carrie Kus

Carrie has 20 years’ experience in the housing sector and is a seasoned trainer and public speaker. She began her housing career as a case worker for Shelter whilst at the same time building her own property portfolio.

She then progressed to owning her own letting agency alongside a successful training and consultancy company.

She held a board position as non-executive director for the Residential Landlords Association for five years. This gives her the insight of working for, and on behalf of, both tenants and landlords throughout her career which brings interesting stories and anecdotes to her training from both sides of the fence.

Pauline Haynes

Pauline started her career in the Social Housing Sector and has been a Training Consultant and Coach for 24 years, developing and delivering training programmes in the Social Housing Sector, NHS, Local Government, Children and Young Peoples Services, HMP the Probation Service.

Dr Eve Blezard

Dr Eve Blezard is an experienced professional in the social housing sector, specialising in tenant engagement, data analysis and community development.

As a policy and practice officer leading CIH’s work on asset management and building safety, Eve is committed to promoting trust and transparency in social housing.

She holds a PhD in the Built Environment from The University of Salford and is a Fellow of Advance HE, recognised for her higher education teaching.

Alongside her current role, she has taught at The University of Salford and Edge Hill University and previously held roles with Housing Quality Network and Progress Housing Group.

Phillip Morrison-Gale

Phillip Morrison-Gale is an AHB chief executive and founder of Impact Ireland Consulting, with over 20 years’ experience in housing, tenancy management and homelessness prevention in Ireland and the UK. A chartered member of Chartered Institute of Housing, he specialises in governance, regulation, strategy and service improvement within the housing sector.

Phillip has led major organisational change and culture reviews, developed tenancy sustainment strategies, and commissioned innovative services for older people, care leavers and young people at risk. He has trained and supported frontline teams to deliver risk-based, trauma-informed support that balances rights, responsibilities and compliance.

With a keen understanding of what ‘good’ looks like in governance, leadership and housing practice, Phillip brings a values-led, practical approach that helps housing professionals improve outcomes, strengthen service delivery and navigate complex challenges with confidence.

34 years of housing experience in the UK and Ireland having worked across finance, general management, disability organisations, and general needs housing associations and approved housing bodies. With a background in the private sector in top four accounting firms and business consultancy.

Kayley Hyman

The basis for the Holistic Hoarding model was established over a three year period, where service manager Kayley Hyman undertook intensive research as part of an MSc in Mental Health and Hoarding Disorder. She is now due to start her PhD to map out hoarding service provision in Wales.    

Kayley sits on the board for Cardiff and Vale Mental Health charity, and the UK National Steering Group for Hoarding, recently receiving the Women in Housing Award for her contribution to hoarding research. Kayley is a consultant for Cardiff University, acting as the public involvement lead for PhD research into hoarding disorder and self neglect amongst older men. She also set up the first all-Wales multi-agency Hoarding Task Force, bringing in agencies from across housing, health and social services to explore how we currently support tenants at risk of eviction due to hoarding tendencies.
